Note

Harlow Wolfe: gangster, smooth-talker, conman. He’s been called a lot of things, many of them less than complimentary. You’d have a few choice words for him yourself, if you didn’t have bigger problems.

It was meant to be the big one. One last job, at least in your present company. South Century bank, he’d told you, wider open than the desert sky. Ripe for the taking, and when you’re done you’ll retire to the tropics with a goddamn fortune.

Naturally, that’s not how things shook out.

The bank job went sideways, all the way to hell. Wolfe’s information was only half-good; the money was there, sure - along with a small army. You took the bait, and just barely managed to thrash yourselves off the hook, leaving a chunk of dangling flesh behind. Wolfe took the money, leaving the four of you to fight your way out of that meat grinder, and you’ve been looking for him ever since.

Whatever he’s been doing in the time since, his money hasn’t spent; the stamped gold’s buried somewhere, too hot to handle right now, and only Wolfe knows where. Unfortunately, Wolfe, right now, has found himself in the hands of Ashton-Copper Mining & Rail, the coal and transport company currently in the process of taking over the country. Leander Ashton, along with his heiress wife, Adrienne Copper, are travelling from Century to Wyrmridge, where they’ll take Wolfe, with a security escort, to the city to face trial for his various misdemeanours.

There will be a space, between Century and Wyrmridge stations, where the Ashton-Copper train is (relatively) unguarded, where Wolfe will be (relatively) accessible, where you stand a (objectively) tiny chance of recovering your wealth, of making something out of this shitshow.

Good luck.
