Session Two

First Night

  • Tiel offers Fletcher a listening ear if she ever needs to discuss family
  • Fugue goes to check in on her
    • Fletcher: Can’t help but feel this conversation has a point
    • Fugue: Loss is hard, there’s a long journey ahead of us, you don’t have to bear it alone ( Mal wasn’t there for the House of Grief moment but Pan was and they’re watching this)
  • Mal asks about Pan & Fugue’s day; they’re evasive.
  • They ask about Mal’s day; she’s evasive.
  • Fletcher offers to enchant Tiel’s armour
  • Mal attunes to the Cube, sneakily - no-one notices
  • Eepy time

Wake up

  • Everyone rolls perception in the night: we’re woken by the walls shaking, banging, the sound of monsters roaring in the distance
    • Mal rolls bad, but stumbles out of bed fully dressed
    • We help Pan and Fletcher get their armour on and run outside
    • Fugue, Fletcher, and Tiel fall down the stairs; Pan and Mal are obnoxious about it
  • In the courtyard, monsters are dragging people away
    • We see Boru (sp?) grabbed by Void Matter and dragged into the hole
  • Everyone rolls Initiative!
    • The bard and the rogue go last. Thumbs up.
    • There is an Aksonom and a Legiana
    • Fugue casts Bless - it feels bad, like loss and grief, a terriblebad feeling that Helps You:) yayy
    • Mal incapacitates the Aksonom for two (?) rounds; the lesbians escape!
    • Pan summons their Echo: it’s a greyscale copy of them, with flashes of bright blue
    • Fugue curses the Aksonom - vulnerability to all damage for a turn
    • Fletcher poisons it - not poison resistant
    • Pan double-crits, does 94 damage in a single turn!
  • We did it we saved the lesbians
  • Juno runs over, gives Pan a heal - his voice is raw, like he’s been screaming for hours
    • He’s wearing a red scarf around his neck, every inch of skin covered
    • His armour is covered in runes of some kind
  • Overhead, on the balcony, Venus has been doing a ritual to keep the dragon contained
    • Mal asks her about it - it was a Dominate Monster spell, very high level stuff
  • Pan and Riza hit on each other some more, Pan scares Paris
  • Fugue recognises Eros from somewhere
  • Back to eep!
  • Fletcher dreams:
    • Red eyes, darkness, something just warm enough to be alive
    • It makes her an offer of some kind, but she doesn’t remember it when she wakes up
    • She’s in an understandably bad mood: Mal & Tiel ask if she’s okay, she shrugs them off

Descent

  • At breakfast, no-one but Pan is really eating
  • Eros approaches Fugue, asks him some questions. Hits on him a little bit gaystyle
  • We get ready to descend - Venus gives us each a single-use, 24-hour Enhance Ability rune
  • Fletcher’s family show up to see her off
  • Shiax appears to see Mal off, and they have a telepathic conversation:
    • Shiax: Get him back. Promise.
    • Malachi: Something’s happening up here, you look after yourself and I’ll look after him. I promise. ( very reluctant to promise but Shiax wasn’t going to let that go)
  • Someone with perception (I missed who, sorry!) notices two people watching us who they don’t recognise:
    • A halfling
    • Someone in an intricate mask
  • Descent:
    • feels like stepping into cold water, cold energy creeping up your body
  • Sharing time!
    • Tiel is here to find her brother, who got involved with the Zhentarim and was brought down into the hole by Elin
    • Fugue is evasive about why he’s here. God told him don’t worry:)
    • Fletcher is being blackmailed by Sebastian
    • Mal is here looking for Shiax’s kid
    • Pan is here to get Elin
    • Mal & Fletcher discuss the Void Matter, it’s moving around inside its vial and pulling towards a specific point. We probably shouldn’t follow it blindly, but on the other hand, we do want to find out what it’s pointing towards.
  • We get our first view of the Void: broken gothic architecture, dim light, very reminiscent of the Underdark

The Void

  • The runes at the foot of the lift are protective, the mushrooms natural - similar to those found in the Underdark
  • We find a corpse with 7gp, nonmagical weapons and armour. The meat has mostly been eaten
  • Fletcher spots a passage in the moss by one of the walls - it leads out to a ledge,with a few broken-down houses and a garden
    • One of the houses has a letter from a Druidic scholar about being invited to see the Seventh Tree?
    • Books about the history of Halia and King Halric
  • Out in the garden, there are two eepy lizard guys. They are covered in poisonous ooze:) beyond, on one of the ledges, is an undead
    • We decide to attack the Pukei Pukei - surprise round
    • They are indeed poisonous - Mal nearly dies to a poison attack
    • Fletcher summons a Flaming Sphere, kills one
    • Fugue Toll The Deads the second one
    • Tiel Lesser Resto’s Malachi
